Government Structure

  • H.4283 Allowing the S.C. Supreme Court to declare a “Judicial Emergency”, which would let it delay hearings and deadlines, relocate court operations, and would overall broadly expand the court’s power and discretion during the emergency 
  • H.4285 – Establishing the end-of-session rules (sine die). Scheduling special sessions during June, at which point lawmakers may consider: the budget, COVID-19 legislation, conference bills, the governor’s vetoes, appointments, and more. 
  • H.4267 – Restructuring the SC State Board of Funeral Service; members would be selected from the seven congressional districts (some at-large); requiring crematorium operators to have continuing education every year; and codifying certain ethics rules for funeral directors 

Elections

  • H.4269 – Combining two voting precincts and eliminating another in Union County 
  • S.768 – Nominating William Inman to serve on the Savannah River Site Research Authority Board of Directors 

Regulation

  • H.4296 – Regulating what a Certified Medical Assistant can do under physician supervision and what Unlicensed Assistive Personnel can do under the supervision of a physician, nurse, or other medical personnel

Education 

  • S.771 – Consolidating Bamberg County’s school districts into a single district, which will have its initial board membership appointed by the local legislative delegation and then they shall be popularly elected every four years 

Civil Court

  • H.4282 – Allowing the recovery of attorney fees by a party that was unjustly sued by the Dept. of Social Services in a child abuse/neglect case
  • H.4268 – Juror’s personal information is exempt from FOIA
  • H.4284 – Allows for civil action to be brought against someone who calls 911 on an innocent person over perceived race, religion, sex, or any other protected status

Taxation

  • S.774 – Offering a one-time income tax credit for landowners who encumber their property with a perpetual recreational trail easement (equal to 10 cents per sqft.)

  • H.4262 – Resolution for a catfish festival
  • H.4278 – Resolution for a board member of the Wild Turkey Federation on getting the “U.S. Super Slam”, which requires successfully hunting a turkey in each of the 49 states that have them 
  • H.4294 – Resolution for the retiring chancellor of U of SC Aiken 

Road Naming Resolutions 

  • H.4281 – DOT shall name a road “Judge Taft Guile, Jr. Road”
  • S.777 & H.4295 – DOT shall name an intersection “Bishop C.L. Lorick, Sr. Memorial Intersection”
