H. 3557 – Protected Tenants

H. 3357 allows for protected tenants, defined as those who have restraining orders against someone else, to break their leases by providing landlords with written notice at least 30 days prior to leaving.  These notices must be accompanied by valid protection orders.  Rent is prorated to the effective leaving date.  Protected tenants are not liable for any fees due to early lease termination.
