S.111 – Legislative Delegations May Remove Governor’s Appointment Power Over Election Boards

S.111 would allow county legislative delegations to remove the Governor’s appointment power over county boards of voter registration and elections, giving it to the county governing body by delegation resolution. While this legislation is likely an attempt to establish some additional accountability for election boards, it does nothing to address the real issue, namely that election boards should be appointed by and accountable to the counties to begin with.
