S.231 – Driver Training Courses Required for Application

S.231 would require people between the ages of 15 and 21 to attend a driver training course from a licensed driver training school in order to obtain a license. In addition, any person age 21 or older, who has not previously held a driver’s license, would have to pass an eight hour defensive driving course.

Currently, application for a driver’s license does not have to include participation in a driver training course if the person is 17 or older. This bill would add additional, unnecessary regulations on citizens that want to drive.
