Response to Speaker’s Poll: I have gotten alot of emails concerning this situation. The Speaker can only serve as Speaker if the body re-elects him or her each 2 year session. 2013 was my first session and he had no opposition in his bid for Speaker of the House. I do think an indictment would remove him from office; however, at this point to my knowledge the accusation does not. He is innocent unless proven guilty. When the 2015 session convenes he may have opposition or he may choose not to run if this accusation is still pending. I am not aware of his competition for his house seat representing a portion of Charleston; however, one must be a member of the body to be Speaker.Thank you for keeping a interest in this situation. I only have the same media coverage that you have available to track the events and I believe that sometimes the truth is muddied by the presentation. Please join me in a continued prayer for resolution so that the General Assembly can stay focused on the good of the people and continued progress to keep it “A Great Day In South Carolina.”
