Golf Industry Victim of Unconstitutional Practices
As a member of the Competitiveness Council member, I sit on the task force that is looking at one of our states leading industries, tourism. Tourism is the second largest producer of jobs in our state it employs about six percent of the work force. One of our challenges is not only to attract more tourists, but to enhance our recreational potential by getting tourists to spend more money while in South Carolina.
Unfortunately, even as the state is trying to increase tourism, tax assessors in certain counties are undermining its revenue potential with regressive tax policies on golf courses.
